So I have a brother, who has Down’s Syndrome, and with disabled beneficiaries the common vehicle to provide for the disabled beneficiary, but also leave them eligible for government assistance such as SSI and Medi-Cal we use a special needs trust. So it’s again, a type of irrevocable trust that is used in the estate planning process and the goal here is to provide for the beneficiary without sacrificing their eligibility for any government base assistance.
