When you’re hiring a lawyer, I think it’s very important, number one, to make sure that the lawyer has trial experience. And I say that because while not ever case is going to go to trial, it’s important for the other side to know that you’re willing to take that case to trial. So I think very important to know that the lawyer has trial experience. I think it’s also important to know if the lawyer has experience in your particular type of injury, whether it be medical negligence, whether it be automobile accidents, premises liability, injuries on a construction site. Just because a lawyer has done one aspect of personal injury doesn’t mean that he or she is best-suited to be handling your kind of case.
I think it’s also important to make sure that the lawyer has experience with the type of injury you’ve suffered. For example, you may have pain from an accident or from an injury. Well, there’s different kinds of pain. There may be pain related to nerves, there may be pain related to muscles, there may be pain related to joints or arthritis. And so you want to ask that lawyer if they have experience with your particular kind of injury. And I think those are important factors to know and understand when you’re looking to hire a lawyer.
