Number one, competence you want to make sure you hire a lawyer that knows the law that’s one thing, competence. Secondly, experience. You want to have somebody that’s been to the courthouse not just once or twice or knows where the courthouse is but has been to the courthouse many times. And not just to the courthouse in _____ County, for instance, you want your lawyer to have experience all over the state or beyond because as I’ve said, people get injured from Minnesota all over the country. So you want an experienced lawyer that not only has a general working knowledge of how the law works across the country but has relationships with lawyers across the country because you need a local counsel to work with you to help you understand and get to know all of the intricacies of that state’s law. So you want experience, you want competence; you want confidence that your lawyer knows what he or she is doing, and you should like your lawyer. You know, you really want to have somebody you like, If you like somebody you’re going to respect their opinion and you’re more likely to take their opinion. And generally, these experienced competent lawyers know what they’re doing and when they give advice to a client, they give advice for a reason because they’re probably right.
