We have an approach and we feel like we kind of led the way on this a little bit, where we will have assets transfer from parents to children or other beneficiaries when the parents die into irrevocable trusts, which the child can actually control at some designated age. And we’re able to allocate certain tax exemptions to this, which gives it tax favored status under the law, protects against creditors and things like that. So when they’re minors, that’s something we’re always looking for, is to have trust that will extend out, if not for their lifetime, for a certain period of time.

California estate planing and administration attorney, Laurence Dugoni, explains how to prepare a tax advantageous estate plan for minor children.
