a lot of people need estate plans
whether they they think they need it or
not many young families think oh we
don’t have very many assets
i don’t need any planning uh however
most people
are not in what we would consider a
nuclear
family uh we have we have blended
families and mixed families and the law
does not provide for those kinds of
people so it’s very important if
you are
living with a fiancee or a boyfriend or
a girlfriend to come in and and provide
for that person if you want because the
law will not provide for that person
if you haven’t done it especially for
families um
estate planning is there for the next
generation so
we want to make sure that when we’re
leaving assets
and legacies to our children that we are
doing it in a way that will be
productive
for them and not destructive so i mean
whether you are
single or have no children
or you’re a young family or you’re at
the stage of grandkids there’s very
important reasons to do planning at all
stages of life
Las Vegas, NV estate planning attorney Zachary Morris explains why you need an estate plan. He emphasizes that many people need estate plans, whether they realize it or not. Young families often assume that because they don’t have many assets, planning isn’t necessary. However, most people today don’t fit the traditional “nuclear family” model—they have blended or mixed families, and the law doesn’t automatically protect those relationships.
He stresses that if someone is living with a fiancé, boyfriend, or girlfriend, they need to take steps to provide for that person, because without proper planning, the law won’t. For families, estate planning is about safeguarding the next generation, ensuring that assets and legacies are passed down in a way that benefits rather than harms them.
Whether someone is single, childless, raising a young family, or enjoying grandchildren, he believes estate planning is crucial at every stage of life.
