So the Department of Licensing creates a second action against a person accused of DUI. There’s the criminal side, which most people know of that happens to the criminal court but then there’s also a civil action initiated by the Department of Licensing that only concerns the persons license and depending on what type of DUI, will result in a different suspension. But there’s seven days to respond and say I want a hearing and if you don’t, that license suspension automatically takes place. If you do, then we get to have a hearing and typically that takes place here in my office and we’re able to put together arguments to potentially save our clients licenses.
