In my practice I don’t charge anything upfront. I work on what’s called a contingency fee, which means that I don’t charge any money upfront and I am only paid that if we are successful at the end of the case. So I investigate a lot of cases a month and many times at the end of it there’s nothing that I can do for the person. I’ll review medical records and do all of that, but there’s nothing that I can do and at that point the client doesn’t owe me any money.
So even talking to an attorney, picking up the phone and calling a medical malpractice attorney doesn’t cost anybody anything. The only thing it’s gonna cost you as a potential client or a patient questioning their care is your time. And maybe at the end of it you’ll have some answers. So it’s really a risk-free request or a risk-free evaluation for the client.
