Well, if you receive a cease and desist letter that means someone’s not very happy with you and usually it’s because someone has what’s called either a non-compete agreement or a restrictive covenant of some sort. And that means that the employer sees you as violating some agreement that you made with them and so if they send you a cease and desist letter it’s something you should take seriously. It’s not something you should just throw in the trash. Call someone and say look, here’s what happened, I left my job and my former employer is coming after me for this what should I do? Because a lot of times these things can be handled simply but a person needs all the facts and better not go off halfcocked in dealing with these situations?

Minneapolis Employment Law Attorney, Thomas Marshall, discusses what happens if you get a cease and desist letter from your former employer.
