It’s funny, I’m in the court all the time, and I see people do this and I think it’s a huge mistake. And the reason is at that stage in the procedure you don’t know, for the most part, what the prosecutor has against you. You don’t know what the police reports say, you don’t know what witnesses have told the police, and so when you go talk to the prosecutor you are giving them your story. And that’s the story you’re going to have to stick with because you are talking to the prosecutor you can’t suddenly change the story later. So if you are able to hire an attorney you should do that at the first moment.
