Sure, so the obvious places that everyone knows is if you served in the Armed Forces, that has a very high percentage of people, unfortunately, who committed service to our clients and are later afflicted with this horrible disease. But what you see nowadays is there are products that people would never have imagined contained asbestos, and that can be things from drywall in their home, flooring tiles, ceiling tiles. There are asbestos in phenolic resins, so you see people who worked with plastics and other trades that are non-traditionally asbestos-exposure trades that are getting sick. As we get later in the years and as asbestos was phased out in the mid-‘80s, you’re seeing a whole of new and untraditional exposures, where you’re seeing people that were exposes through remediation projects and the like. We have a very interesting case right now where we represent a former sitting judge who was exposed through remediation and remodeling at the courthouse that he served in, so it’s unbelievable how widely used asbestos was and how scary it is that it’s still in place today in a whole lot of places.

Houston, TX personal injury attorney Aaron Heckaman talks about where asbestos usually occurs.
