Well, any time you have a dispute, the two options are either ADR or to go to court. Either federal district court, or state court, and court can often times be much more expensive. It can take up to 18 months to two years, engage in multiple depositions and a significant amount of written discovery where much of that can be limited of avoided all together in the ADR situation. Certainly with a mediation, but even in an arbitration it can be more cost effective way to resolve a dispute.
