So my advice if you think that your spouse is hiding assets is really a twofold answer. First is to determine whether or not it’s reasonable. It’s a common concern of people in a divorce that a spouse is hiding assets, but reasonably speaking, if there’s moderate income and they’re W2 employees, you can generally tell by your cost of living whether or not it’s likely that there is significant money missing. But if you determine that there is, I think you need to get a forensic accounting, either through the court or just informally, to track the finances ’cause that’s the person best qualified to determine if there is actual money missing and where it is.
