When you meet with a personal injury lawyer, you should bring any documents that you have available to you. I’m often asked, “What documents should I bring when I come and meet with you?” And very often by then you’ve had communication with insurance companies or peace officers. You may even have a copy of the police report related to a car crash, for instance. You may have incident reports if it’s a work-related injury. All of those things, and any obviously communication between you and other persons involved in the accident are important for you to bring along. If you have documentation related to available health insurance or automobile insurance, like your premium statements or your declaration page for your insurance policy, those are the kinds of things you should bring to an initial meeting.

Minneapolis personal injury lawyer Jim Carey explains that a prospective client should bring a variety of documents to their initial meeting with an attorney.
