Well in federal court, you have the sentencing guidelines which has a point system that assigns different points the higher the points the higher the prison recommendation range, and it’s up to the judge to finally determine what the sentence is. The quantity in a drug trafficking case drives heavily the outcome of the sentence or a recommended range of imprisonment and on a fraud case the dollar amounts that the person is responsible for often drives that. You have other enhancements that increase your points such as organizer/leader, whether there was violence involved, whether it was a sophisticated means type case, those things can increase the points so it’s depended on your involvement, the quantity involved and the circumstances of each case.
