To clients the advice I give to them is to step away from your own vision, which tends to be focused in a very specialized way, and try to understand how are the decision makers going to view your problem. The decision makers could be a judge, it could be a jury, it could be a government regulator, but how are they going to view your problem? And be self-aware so that when you are articulating your problem and concerns and trying to decide what’s the right remedy you can both convey to the general world why this is important. And also appreciate the concerns of the other side so to come up with something that’s realistic and achievable to get to where you need to go.
