So we’re in a win-lose business that’s what my old boss, Peter Fleming, who is a great trial lawyer in New York used to tell me. And he used to tell me and I didn’t understand it at first, he said, “Jon, the wins are great but the losses absolutely kill you.” The single most rewarding aspect of a trial lawyer’s life and business is winning a case, vindicating the rights of their clients either getting an acquittal verdict in a criminal case or winning an award in a civil case. After all you’ve gone through, after all the emotion, after all the effort when that jury comes in and that jury rules for you there is no feeling like it on earth.
