“I tend to think of myself as a janitor with a law degree. I just clean up messes.” That’s how Aaron Dean of Moss & Barnett describes his contractor-side construction practice in this interview with ReelLawyers.

“My plan for the day when I wake up usually is disrupted by the time I get in the car. My cellphone is always on.”

And what types of disputes does he handle for his clients?

“It could be trying to help them get paid, dealing with labor disputes, trying to get insurance coverage if there’s a defect claim. Trying to work through bidding disputes. It really could be any number of things. And that’s what I like about my job.”

Aaron’s 20-year legal career spans all facets of the construction industry. He represents general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, design professionals, and lenders. He’s handled more than 100 OSHA investigations and cases for contractors in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and Colorado.

Aaron is a sought-after construction industry thought leader, speaking frequently at key trade events on timely construction topics and serving as an instructor for national and local contractor trade groups.

After graduating summa cum laude from William Mitchell, Aaron clerked for U.S. District Court Judges David S. Doty and James M. Rosenbaum.
