Yes, we do indeed. We all know that – or hear that 22 Vietnam veterans die of suicide every day from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. We know that that is a major health problem in the United States. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is also a major problem in motor vehicle collisions. Every year we have 3.5 million motor vehicle crashes a year, 42,000 deaths, and the American Academy of Family Practice Doctors has now identified Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as the – motor vehicle crashes as the leading cause of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in the United States. It is – and it has been identified that a third of those victims have long-term chronic problems. Recent research shows that Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder involves a – in many cases involves a permanent rewiring of the structure of the synoptic connections in the brain and can be a very serious problem. A lot of lawyers don’t even know that, don’t understand it. A lot of doctors don’t know it, don’t understand it. It is our function and purpose, our duty as a personal injury lawyer, to get – to identify that problem, get our clients to doctors that know and understand the situation, and present evidence as part of their case so that they get justice for what they’re going through, that it isn’t just overlooked.
