I got started in immigration as a law student. I had no intention of working in immigration. It wasn’t even on my radar, but I came to Lindquist & Vennum as a summer associate, and our firm has a very heavy emphasis on pro bono, and I was asked to help on a pro bono political asylum case. And I was absolutely sold on immigration law. I went back for my last year of law school, took every immigration course I could, and when I came back to Lindquist & Vennum as a full-fledged lawyer, asked if I could please begin in immigration practice, and they were very supportive in letting me develop that.
