What’s a special consideration when working with married couples? With married couples, it’s really important for me to have full disclosure to both husband and wife or if it’s a same-sex couple, both individuals because, generally speaking, I’m representing both of them. And it’s called dual representation, and they have to consent to that. But I can’t later go to a meeting with only one of them and have them say, “Hey, by the way, I’m gonna change my provision for Suzie.” I would have to say, “I’m sorry, but I have to disclose that to Suzie.” And either we have full disclosure I wouldn’t be able to work with the couple any longer.
