I think that the biggest misstep employers make is by not planning and employers often have a tendency to want to be reactive to problems rather than be proactive. And the way that employers can be more proactive is by establishing written policies and procedures, by establishing an employment handbook, sorts of things that will guide the employer when issues arise so that they are not left in a situation where they’re reacting to problems for the first time after they’ve arisen.
