So one of the hardest concepts for most people to grasp is what is uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. That’s the one thing that I think most people have difficulty understanding.

So what it is is it’s a kind of protection for you and your family in case the person that hits you in an accident doesn’t have enough insurance to cover your injuries, especially if it’s your fault, then you’ll have to bring a claim against the other person to get your injuries compensated.

If they have very little insurance, if they have just the minimum amount or even sometimes slightly more than the minimum amount, which is what most people carry, uninsured and underinsured is your backup protection so you not only can collect from the responsible driver, but you can turn to your own insurance company and also seek compensation for your injuries or your family members injuries.

It’s very easy for medical expenses sometimes to exceed six-figure numbers in serious auto accidents. So the expenses can mount up quickly. Uninsured and underinsured is good protection for you and your family.
