In 1996, Bill Wood co-founded Wood Weatherly Trial Law alongside partners Grace Weatherly and Jane Thacker. With an impressive track record of over 300 jury trials in both state and federal courts across Texas, Bill quickly established himself as the trusted attorney for clients facing significant legal challenges throughout the state.

Born to a petroleum engineer father and a schoolteacher mother, Bill grew up in Midland, where he had a unique connection to former President George Bush. In fact, during his seventh-grade year, Bill served as the backup quarterback to George Bush. Following Bush’s election to office in 2000, Bill was surprised to come across an article in the New York Times. It revealed that some of their classmates in Midland had jokingly speculated that if they had been asked to guess which one of their high school class of 1964 graduates would become President, they would have chosen Bill instead of George. However, politics was never Bill’s ambition.

Since his early teenage years, Bill’s sole aspiration, apart from becoming a professional athlete, was to become a trial lawyer. He found immense joy and fulfillment when he delivered his first jury argument. It was a defining moment for him, solidifying his belief that being a trial lawyer was his true calling. He stated, “I felt like this was what I was meant to be—and I’ve never desired to be anything else.”
